Julia Child co-wrote this book with two other women over a period of six years. Her confident and conversational voice is unmistakable. Here, for example, in the forward: "We have not given estimates for the time of preparation, as some people take half an hour to slice three pounds of mushrooms while others take five minutes." (We know Julia is of the 'five-minute' variety!)

The book was originally published in 1961 to rave reviews. At that time, everyone was following Jackie Kennedy's lead and wanted to know more about French cuisine. This is the 1979 printing. Enjoy!
