Collection includes: set of books, bookends, map (as shown)

Perhaps as children, Lewis & Clark were arm chair travelers first, with moms who let them skip meals to go on unsafe forays through swamps.  Bet their moms were all, like, "Here, Son, read these wonderful books about far-off lands to whet your appetite for exploration." Bet later on, they wished their sons would send a letter for land's sake, just letting them know they arrived at the Pacific safely.

  • "New World Neighbors", books, set of sixteen, with color illustrations, edited in 1943, rare to find a complete collection
  • Bookends, Siesta Time, vintage, with some wear and tear
  • Map, South America, National Geographic

By the way, this series of books is the subject of a dissertation written by Breanne Robertson, PhD., about textbook diplomacy.  She states that during World War II, "The New World Neighbors series unconsciously reinforced prevailing American prejudices of U.S. racial superiority and social dominance."  Read it here.

Shipping costs are included. Also, please note that everything I sell, and I mean everything, is used, antique, vintage, etc. That means sometimes scratched, dented, and worn. Imperfect. Not dusty, though. Or dirty.
